Omega 3 for Anti Aging

Omega 3 for anti aging
Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid. Omega 3 is considered as an essential fatty acid because the human body cannot produce it on its own and hence it has to be taken through our diet. Omega 3 is present in large quantities in flax seeds, walnuts, soybeans, shrimp, winter squash, kidney beans, tuna, cod, olive oil and certain vegetables, sea weeds and oily fishes like salmon and mackerel. Omega 3 exists in two most important forms. They are DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid). An average man requires 1.6 grams of omega 3 everyday and an average woman requires 1.1 grams of omega 3 everyday. Omega 3 has a lot of positive effects on our body. Omega 3 lowers the amount of cholesterol in our body and hence reduces plaque deposition in the arteries. Since our brain consists of 60% lipids (fats) its function is boosted by omega 3. This makes omega 3 consumption very essential during our old age to prevent slackening of our brain.

Apart from preventing cardiovascular diseases and inhibiting cancer cell growth it also keeps us young. Omega 3 has anti aging properties too. Omega 3 reduces the chances of becoming obese. It regulates the food intake by stimulating the production of leptin, a hormone. Omega 3 also regulates our metabolism and hence our body weight. By regulating the metabolic rate, symptoms of aging like fatigue, lack of concentration and type-2 diabetes are avoided. Increasing the intake of omega 3 also makes our skin look younger. Thus we see that a balanced diet can work magic and increases our longevity.
